We are pleased to announce that Sinn Féin Lead Negotiator Martin McGuinness M.P. will visit Canada on a major speaking tour from October 25 to 28. During the visit, Mr. McGuinness will inform Canadians on his party's role in crucial peace negotiations planned for November, involving the British and Irish governments and Irish political parties. While in Canada, Mr. McGuinness will be the guest speaker at the sixth annual Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) Inc. Annual Dinner held in Toronto on October 28th, 2006. We are pleased to announce that Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams MP will be the guest speaker at our Fifth Annual Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) Dinner in Toronto on Saturday, November 12, 2005. The dinner will take place at the Hilton Toronto, 145 Richmond Street West, Toronto. Reception is at 6:30 pm and the dinner will be at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $150. The event will take place in the Alberta Room at the Palliser Fairmont Hotel, 133-9 th Avenue S.W., Calgary. Cocktails are at 7 pm. Dinner is at 8 pm. Tickets are $100. For tickets and information, please call Alex at 403 969-8855. Martin was originally scheduled to speak in Calgary in March. The event had to be postponed due to the political situation in Ireland. The fourth annual Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) Inc. dinner was held on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the Hilton Toronto (University and Richmond). Our keynote speaker this year was the recently elected Member of the European Parliament from Dublin, Ms Mary Lou McDonald. Also travelling from Ireland to attend the dinner was Belfast City Councillor Eoin O’Broin. Eoin brought us an update on the situation in North Belfast. A benefit concert for Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) Inc. was held on Friday, November 5 at The 360 Club, located at 326 Queen Street West, Toronto. Sinn Féin MEP Mary Lou McDonald and Belfast Councillor Eoin O’Broin were at the concert.
Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) Inc. hosted a reception in Montréal on Sunday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Hurley’s Irish Pub, 1225 Crescent Street, Montréal. Our special guests at the reception were Mary Lou McDonald MEP and Belfast City Councillor Eoin O’Broin.

The second annual Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Woodlands Golf and Country Club in Brampton. A dinner and prize presentation was held at the nearby Brampton Irish Centre.
Alex Maskey MLA, former Mayor of Belfast and current city councillor, attended St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Hamilton and Toronto. On Friday, March 12 at 7:00 pm, Alex attended a Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) reception at the LIUNA Building, 44 Hughson Street South, Hamilton. The following afternoon at 2:00 pm, Alex attended a second Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) reception at Dora Keogh’s Irish Pub, 141 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. This pioneering Sinn Féin assembly member, who did such a wonderful job as Belfast’s first republican Mayor, was a guest of the Toronto St. Patrick’s Parade Society on the review stand at the parade on Sunday, March 13, 2003.
Gerry Adams was the guest of honour at a Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) dinner on Thursday, March 18, 2004 in Calgary at the Fairmount Palliser Hotel, 133 9th Avenue S.W., Calgary. The dinner began at 7:00 pm. Mr. Adams travelled to Calgary following his attendance at St. Patrick’s Day festivities in the United States. The purpose of the Calgary visit was to brief Canadians on the ongoing Irish peace process. This was Mr. Adams’ fifth visit to Canada. On previous visits Mr. Adams thanked former Prime Minister Chretien and Canadians for their support of the peace process. Download the press release for this event. Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) hosted its third annual dinner in Toronto on Saturday, November 15, 2003. Our special guest was Martin McGuinness, MP (Vice President and Chief Negotiator, Sinn Féin). The event was held at the Hilton Toronto. The Master of Ceremonies was Jonathan Lynn, and entertainment was provided by Bradley & the Bouncers.
